Melanio Oliva first grew tobacco in Pinar del Río, Cuba, in 1886, and Oliva Cigars remains one of the most influential cigar makers in Nicaragua. Their award-winning cigars have consistently featured in Cigar Aficionado and Cigar Journal’s Cigars of the Year, culminating in the prestigious No. 1 Cigar of the Year accolade in 2014 for the Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado.

That same year, Oliva became the first New World cigar maker to be awarded the prestigious UK Cigar Producer of the Year at a special ceremony in London. In 2021, the Serie V Melanio Figurado was also named UK Cigar of the Year.
