HARVESTING TOBACCO

  • A tobacco plant normally has 16 - 17 leaves

  • Starting at the bottom of the plant, only two or three leaves are picked at a time and only after reaching perfect maturity

  • Growing tobacco and deciding when to pick the leaves is an art. It requires years of training and hands on experience

  • Total harvest time can take up to six weeks. After the leaves are picked they are taken to the curing house
