QUALITY CONTROL

  • In order to prevent tobacco beetle (or 'weevil') infestation, the cigars are put into a freezer for 2 - 5 days at a temperature of at least 20 degrees below zero

  • Quality control happens throughout the production process

  • One example of this is 'Draw Testing'. In order to ensure a cigar has a 'good draw', each cigar is placed into a machine which measures the amount of air that can be drawn through them. Too little air means that the cigar is rolled too tightly, too much air means the cigar is rolled too loosely
